I'm selling my collection. Here is an Antique Otis A. Smith Co. Single Action Revolver, 5 round, chambered for .38 RF, Spur trigger. Marked on the top of the frame: "SMITH's PATENT .APR 15.1875 No.38." 3.3/4" round barrel with good bore with sharp rifling. FFL not required for transfer. Flutted cylinder 5 round with clean chamber, rotates with good timing, no play on the lock up but the hammer doesn't stay cocked very good rosewood bird eye grips, serial number: 1424 on the butt. This Model No.38 has an unique cylinder release pin that is spring loaded for easy and fast reload an advance design for the time periodI would be in an excellent working condition if for the hammer, with its original nickel finish rating 65% flaking original nickel finish, well built in very good condition it's very collectible. In the period manufactures made extensive line of handguns classed by collectors as "Suicide Special" the Otis Smith were of excellent quality and are due better recognition than they have had. What is not in the description could be seen on the pictures. I haven't shot it. It was well kept and preserved. Old cartridges showed on one of the picture are NOT for sale.
