Antique MERWIN & BRAY Front Loading PLANT’S MFG. “Cup Primed” ARMY Revolver .42 Caliber Plant’s LARGE FRAME ARMY MODEL
Description: Antique MERWIN & BRAY Front Loading PLANT’S MFG. “Cup Primed” ARMY Revolver .42 Caliber Plant’s LARGE FRAME ARMY MODEL Here we present an antique Merwin & Bray Front Loading Plant’s Manufacturing Company Army Model Revolver, made circa 1865 in New Haven, Connecticut. These six-shot, solid frame, front loading single action revolvers, were produced by the Plant’s Manufacturing Company of New Haven, CT. There were approximately 8,000 of these revolvers produced during the mid-1860s, firing their proprietary patented “cup primed” cartridge. The Plant’s Manufacturing Company was financed by the New York based firm of Merwin & Bray, who also acted as the sales agents and exclusive distributor for Plant’s products. Most of the Plant “Army” sized revolvers were manufactured with silver plated brass frames, as is this example. Their revolver featured a “cup-primed” and front-loading concept, which was among the best attempts to get around S&W’s 12-1/2 year stronghold on cartridge revolvers. They found relative success with the public rather than with the military. The overall condition is good. Some original silver finish is present on the frame. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Markings are legible. The right grip is missing a chip, but both grips are in good shape overall. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5-1/4 inches. Caliber: .42 Cup-Fire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #233303 SOLD Antique: Yes |
