Here we present an antique Engraved Ring Trigger Under Hammer Percussion Pepperbox Revolver. It was expressly made for self-defense, giving the shooter 6 shots of .32 caliber without having to cock a hammer.

Made with an underhammer and ring trigger, the percussion nipples were integrated to the barrels. While simplifying shooting (no manual cocking of the hammer), the under hammer did occasionally have a problem with the percussion cap falling before it had a chance to do what it was supposed to do. Regardless, this early example of a double-action pistol must have been quite a selling point. As these were considered “point and shoot” short range defensive weapons or “belly guns”, the market did not seem to object to the limitation of not having sights. 

The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bores are smooth and dim. 5 of the 6 percussion nipples remain. Dark patina throughout the iron surfaces. Grips maintain a silvery brightness characteristic of “German Silver”.
