USFA Ainsworth-Government Inspector Series-Ultra Rare Collectible
Description:
USFA Ainsworth, 7.5", 45LC, one of the most collectible, rarest, of the Government Inspector Series. BullsEye ejector rod....There were far more Nettletons produced than the Ainsworth.
Something else ultra rare....it has the Armory Blue, but it has a high polish blue rather than the soft, grayish blue. Personally, I"ve only seen a handfull of 7.5' Ainsworths, and this is the first I've encountered with the high luster AB bluing.
The company did 2 different “styles” of AB. In both, the metal parts went into the oven with a special oil and charcoal. The difference was in the prep work. If the parts were wire wheeled before going into the oven, the parts came out with less sheen (softer) and with a slight grayish color.
Some of the customers wanted more shine so the wire wheel step was left out. The result is what you see in the pictures above.
The one piece wooden grips also have more figure than the typical Government Inspector Series gun. Superb condition. Comes with what you see in the listing.
