Smith and Wesson Model 13-2 Military and Police, .357 Magnum, Nickel, 4" Barrel, Square Butt
Description: The Model 13 was originally designed for the New York State Police in 1974. They were designed with fixed sights so as not to get caught on clothing when drawn from its holster. However, it is primarily associated with the FBI that used them for many years. Of course, the agents were issued a 3 inch blued version and the command staff got the 4 inch nickel. The story goes that after the Waco, Texas standoff debacle in 1993, Attorney General Janet Reno ordered all FBI revolvers destroyed and then replaced them with semi-autos that carried more bullets. The gun was popular with other police departments and military units both in the USA and abroad. The early 4” nickel 13’s are not easy to find, especially in such immaculate condition as is this one and accompanied by an equally mint and correct gray "nickel" box with papers. The photos do not do it justice. I can’t call it New In Box because I do not know it’s history. All I can say is that it shows no sign of having been fired, other than at the factory. The drag line on the cylinder is barely visible. The serial number places its manufacture in 1979, two years after the dash 2 update. Comes with walnut magna and bonded ivory grips.
