EARLY COLT PYTHON FIRST GENERATION 1957 RARE!
Description:
This is a very scarce early 3rd year production Colt Python, chambered in .357 magnum, and made in 1957. The production of Colt Python started in 1955, but only 300 guns were made that year and about 1300 were made in 1956. Early "first generation" guns had hollow under lug and fully checkered grips with gold colt medallions. Around 1960-1962, a solid under lug was added and the grips were now partially checkered. This gun is SN 1868 and is all original with no pitting but with holster wear as per pictures, mainly on the left side of the barrel and on the high edges. The original owner had it for over 50 years before passing away. He was an avid outdoorsman and killed a grizzly bear with this gun, after being attacked on a hike in one of the Northwest states(as per his family). The gun has an incredibly smooth action and a great lock-up. Grips have a few minor dents as per pictures. Bore has strong rifling, but has some pitting towards the muzzle, consistent with years of outdoor use. Gun also comes with an original beautifully tooled Lawrence holster and belt - it belonged to the original owner and came with the gun. A great set. If only it could talk. It would make a great addition to Colt Python collection, that you would not be afraid to take to the range as well. No import marks. As I had not fired this gun, a thorough gunsmith inspection is recommended before firing. 3-day inspection. FFL or C&R, except in states, municipalities and other localities, where a full 01FFL is required for transfer(CA, NJ). If you are not sure - please, contact me first before .
