Antique 1878 Patent Prairie King .22 Caliber Pocket Revolver
** Attractive Example & Fully Functional **
Description: An interesting late 1870's to 1880's vintage .22 caliber pocket revolver named the Prairie King. This little single-action revolver features a 2.25" inch round barrel, a 7 shot cylinder, a nickel-plated factory finish, and smooth Walnut grips on a bird's head style grip. This little antique revolver would have been a popular choice in the 1880's to carry for self-defense due to it's small size and 7 round capacity. This particular example is serial number 7011 and is in great shape overall. All of the numbered parts match including the barrel, frame, grips, and cylinder. The factory stampings on the top surface of the barrel are crisp and clear. The original plated finish rates 85% plus, with the vast majority of the deductions coming from some finish loss on the cylinder and a small spot above the spring-loaded cylinder pin release button. The case colored hammer and trigger show some small traces of color but show mostly a consistent gray patina. The 7 cylinder chambers appear to be in great shape, however the bore in the 2.25" inch barrel is dark with shallow pitting throughout. The original Walnut grips are in excellent condition overall but are not a great match in color. The right side grip is numbered to the gun as was the custom at that time, and both grips are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. Both grip panels are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with no wiggle. The action on this Prairie King revovler is still "in time" and perfectly functional. The trigger works perfectly and the hammer still has both the half-cock and full-cock notches intact. This little pocket revolver has probably spent the vast majority of it's life in a drawer or storage of some type and would be a great addition to any antique arms collection. As an antique this Prairie King .22 caliber revolver can be shipped directly to the buyer with no FFL needed.
