Description:
Rare Antique Iver Johnson " Eclipse" singe shot .22 RF deringer.

Looking for a classic piece of American firearms history? Check out this very rare antique early solid frame handgun produced by Johnson & Bye (Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works) these single shot derringers were introduced in 1871. Iver Johnson and Martin Bye worked for Allen & Wheelock Co. and in 1871 left to set up their own partnership in a manufacturing company in Worchester, Massachusetts. They remained partners until Martin Bye left the partnership in 1883.
This cartridge model “ Eclipse “ serial number 11575 was produced first in .22 rimfire then later in .32 and 38 rimfire. They were single shot, , spur trigger with a bird’s heads shaped grips.  To load you put the hammer at half cock and barrel would swing to the right. It had a small ball bearing detent and the nose of the hammer were the locking device. These derringers were produced unmarked with only a serial number under the left grip panel and were secured to the frame with a wood screw instead of a machine screw which required a nut.  You won’t find this on other early model derringers.  Size is overall length about 4 ½”  This is an all original single shot pocket gun.
Condition: The metal finish is still in very good shape for a pistol 150 years old with minor surface scratches and still retaining most of the original nickel finish.  . The 2 ½” barrel looks good with just the usual minor pitting as well for it’s age and black powder use and still showing strong straight line rifling. .  The original walnut grips are in excellent condition with just some minor handling marks.  Please judge from the photos.  Lock-up has just a tiny bit of play.  Has a  strong hammer spring. This gun was made for low pressure black powder loads and in this condition not safe to shoot but would make a nice collector piece.

It's a true collector's item with minor wear and tear consistent with age.   Whether you're a firearms collector, a history buff, or just looking for a unique piece to add to your gun collection, this Iver Johnson single shot derringer is sure to impress.today to make it yours!

This is an antique and no FFL required. Just proof of age.  Will ship USPS priority mail at a cost of $15.00.  This gun is sold "as-is" as a collectible with no refund and no return.
