Description:
In the bustling streets of Hartford, Connecticut, a young gunsmith named Samuel Colt unveiled his latest creation—the Model 1849 Pocket Revolver. Weighing just 26 ounces and chambered in .31 caliber, it was designed for personal defense, easily concealable yet powerful enough for its purpose. The revolver quickly gained popularity, with over 325,000 units produced between 1850 and 1873, making it Colt’s most successful percussion model. Notably, it was favored by both Union and Confederate officers during the Civil War, who appreciated its portability and reliability.
This well above average 6" 1849 Colt has been used but not abused. Barrel still exhibits over 70% of its original blue. Almost all of the cylinder scene is present. Action functions smoothly and as it should. Traces of case colors are in protected areas. All numbers match on this desirable 6" example. Grips show use but are in above average condition. Nice bore. Just a very sought after 6" 1849 Colt that was used on both sides of the Civil War. Please feel free to ask questions. I do offer a layaway plan (contact me for details) and I will consider trades.
