Description:
General Specs: Winchester, 1949, .410 Bore, 6lbs. 1oz., Full Choke, LOP 13 15/16", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 3/8"
Serial Number:  80056

The Model 42 is an icon in the ranks of Winchester firearms, made in the days of the highest quality control and hand fitted parts.  The Model 42 was a flawlessly produced little pump gun, chambered only for the diminutive .410 shotgun shell.  In the 30 years of production that ran from 1933 to 1963, almost 160,000 of these fine guns were produced.  A very large percentage were Standard Grade guns, and there were also Skeet Grades, Trap Grades, and the Deluxe Grade.  This little M42, sn80056 made in 1949, is a TRUE STAND-OUT IN THE WORLD OF STANDARD GRADE MODEL 42’S.  Most Field Grade guns were used hard, show wear and tear, many having been altered with short stocks, replaced wood, and restorations (some of which were well done, most of which were not).  Look closely at the photos and you will see a 99% factory original, untouched Model 42 that is 67 years old and has barely been fired and not altered in anyway since leaving the factory.  The highly desirable 28”, solid rib, full choked barrel has virtually 99% factory blue.  The receiver and trigger guard have 99.5% factory blue with the only detractions being the slightest handling wear at the bottom carry point. The wood retains 98% factory finish as well, with only a few handling marks and terminating with the factory original buttplate.  The bore is perfect and the screws are excellent.  This is a rare find, and as most of us know, condition is everything when it comes to value in collectible Winchester firearms.  The Model 42 has a strong following and as time marches on, there are fewer of these high-condition examples that will remain which simply increases the value of Model 42’s like this one.  Finding a Standard Grade with 28” solid rib and condition is a great find.  The Winchester Model 42 is a solid investment quality shotgun that is fun to shoot as it continues to increase in value.  See specifications below.  Thanks for looking.
