Description:
Fine Swedish Mauser M38 WWII Military Rifle
Offered here for sale is a fine conditioned original Swedish Mauser WWII Period M38 rifle in super accurate 6.5x55 caliber. The Swedish Mauser Model 38 is a bolt-action military rifle that was produced in Sweden, primarily for military use during the mid-20th century. The rifle is chambered in 6.5x55mm Swedish, a highly regarded cartridge known for its accuracy and mild recoil. The Model 38 was a post-World War II development of the earlier M96 Mauser design, meant to modernize and streamline Sweden's military small arms. The Model 38 uses the 6.5x55mm Swedish round, a cartridge that is known for its precision and high ballistic performance, making it a favorite among collectors and shooters alike. This specimen was produced by Husqvarna, a renowned Swedish manufacturer known for its firearms as well as industrial equipment. Husqvarna made these rifles between 1940 and the 1950s. This particular rifle being an early postwar import is notable as it represents the period when Sweden was still using these rifles in active service or reserve roles before transitioning to more modern arms. Serial Number 669246 the rifle has all matching serial numbers. Condition: The rifle has  almost all of its blued finish with only minor wear. The Mauser rifles of this era were generally made with high-quality steel and the bluing was done well, helping them resist wear and rust. The stock being "very sound" with only some soiling and in excellent condition. Right Side Plate on Stock: The mention of a plate affixed to the right side of the stock . The right side of the buttstock once had a plate affixed. It was removed and only show minor nail holes). The barrel indicates that this was a postwar importation by St. Albans, VT a well-known importer of surplus military firearms after World War II. Many European military rifles, including Swedish Mausers, were sold in the U.S. in the postwar period. The fact that this rifle is an early postwar import indicates it was likely brought into the U.S. shortly after the war, making it a part of the early wave of military surplus firearms that flooded the American market. Swedish Mausers, including the Model 38, are well-regarded for their smooth action and accuracy. The 6.5x55mm cartridge is known for being mild in recoil yet highly effective, making these rifles excellent choices for target shooting and hunting, as well as military use.
