Description:
This is a World War I model M1898/05 "Butcher Blade" sword bayonet maker marked on the reverse "Pack Oligher & Co. / Solingen" with "crown over W/17" and proof on the spine. In very fine / excellent condition the blade remains unsharpened with a very slight rounding of the tip showing virtually all of the blue finish with areas of dried grease and sheath wear on the high edges. The cross guard has serial # markings with it and the pommel having a mottled finish with scattered impact marks. The original wood grips have a small crack on the left panel with scattered use and impact marks. It comes in a matching steel scabbard that has had the unit numbers and serial markings obscured showing much of a blue finish. A very fine near excellent example of these desirable WWI bayonets.
