For consideration is a very nice Winchester Model 12 in 16 gauge (2 9/16" chamber). The Winchester Model 1912 (also commonly known as the Model 12, or M12) is an internal-hammer pump-action shotgun with an external tube magazine. Popularly named the "Perfect Repeater" at its introduction, it largely set the standard for pump-action shotguns over its 51-year high-rate production life. From August 1912 until first discontinued by Winchester in May 1964, nearly two million Model 12 shotguns were produced in various grades and barrel lengths. Initially chambered for 20 gauge only, the 12 and 16 gauge versions came out in 1913 (first listed in the 1914 catalogs), and the 28 gauge version came out in 1934. This particular example is in very good condition mechanically and physically. The stock and forend have been replaced because the original stock has a crack on the top left (photo 17). A Boyd's X walnut stock and forend have been installed (original stock and forend included). The barrel has a good bore and is choked fixed modified. The gun was made before 2 3/4" shells became the standard so the chamber accomodates 2 9/16" shells. It appears the blued finish has been redone at some point. This fine Winchester was made in 1925 and would make a fine field gun for someone that has a supply of shells of the right length or the person who is committed enough to find the right shells.
