Description:
This is an 1871 Spencer rifle altered from a carbine by Springfield Armory. After the Civil War, Springfield Armory altered approximately 1100 1865 carbines by replacing the barrel with a new 30" barrel and forend in order to make them an infantry rifle. It is chambered for the same .56-50 as the carbine and has a stable cut-off device present, and 3 leaf standard infantry rifle sight. The bore is in excellent condition with no corrosion or pitting. There is a small crack on either side of the stock near the butt plate, which is common due to the channel for the tubular magazine. The metal mostly has the same patina with no bluing present. The metal is smooth, the speckle appearance in the photos is not rust or pitting. The action functions perfectly and It is in very good overall condition. Buy is responsible for knowing their local laws and regulations.
