Description:
Jean Tanazacq extremely scarce vintage "RIX" model, it is a double edged dagger, very sharp, with a striated ricasso that encourages a very characteristic grip. This praised blade used by big game hunters in France and Europe, is one of Tanazacq's jewels. The idea comes from the "Main Gauche," or "Left hand," of the 16th century swordsmen, and from the American V-42 dagger which was first manufactured by Case at the rate of 3,000 copies to equip the first American-Canadian Special Forces in 1943. The "RIX" is called a "Pig Sticker" in the U.S. It is an extremely beautiful and appealing model done in a unique final shape and form, aesthetic, design and overall gorgeous appearance. It has an 8-6/8" blade of 440-C stainless steel blade, a solid double German silver guard, Mozambique ebony handle and a matching solid German silver butt cap. Wild boar hunting is very poular in France today and observed in the most purest and traditional fashion of the 16th century. This particular dagger is intended to administrate the final thrust  which can only be done by a Master's Huntsmen, as such type of weapon always had a tremedous sucess among hunters, made in  April 1983. Rare two markings on the blade,) map of France and Tanazacq's iconic wild boar).
Another version of the "RIX" will be shown at a later date (when I get to that particular listing) with a 8-3/4" blade of the same steel stock, but with a brass double guard, black micart handle, and a solid brass buttcap. Made in late  August 1983. Black leather scabbard with the scarce wild boar logo carving and brown leather sheath for the other model.
When it comes to "pig sticker" as we know them in the U.S., it is impossible to do beter than these two magnificen RIX daggers, in terms of ergonomics, balance, handling and efficiency; not to mention the fluidity of their lines. The RIX dagger is considered by many collectors to be Tanazacq's top jewel in his line of knives, so does the high quality leather sheaths/scabbads that comes with any model. Can be had separately. No trade. Buyer pays shipping.
