Offered here for sale and newly acquired is this fine Belgian Browning BAR semi-auto rifle in .338 Winchester Magnum caliber. ?The Browning BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) is a gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle introduced in 1967. This rifle, serial number 137NM04465, is all original and in fine, little used condition.
In the early 1970s, Browning transitioned the assembly of the BAR from Belgium to a new facility in Viana, Portugal, while still manufacturing parts in Belgium. Chambered in .338 Winchester Magnum, this BAR is designed for hunting large game, offering significant stopping power suitable for species like elk or moose. The inclusion of a Bushnell Sportview 3x9 scope enhances its versatility, providing adjustable magnification for various shooting distances.?
The .338 Win Mag variant of the BAR is relatively uncommon, which can add to its desirability among collectors and hunters. This specimen has a 23” barrel and retains all of its original finish. It has hand-cut checkering on pistol grips and forearm. There is only one noticeable bruise on the right side of stock but of course will not affect the operation of the rifle.
