Very Rare SCARCE Antique COLT “HOUSE” Model .41 RF Manufactured between 1871 to 1876
Approx 9,952 Manufactured between 1871 to 1876
Approx 7,500 were 4 shot cloverleaf cylinders with the remainder having 5 shot round cylinders. Serial numbers ranged from 1-9952.
This model revolver is marked with serial # 77 which would put it in the first year of production in 1871.
Colt 4-shot House Model Revolver, made in 1871 in Hartford, Connecticut It was chambered for the .41 Rimfire, a relatively large cartridge for the size of pistol. It was intended for self-defense and succeeded. They were marketed as being good guns for home protection, so Colt labeled them the “House Revolver”.
Condition: 3” barrel in .41RF with a dark clear bore still showing faint rifling throughout. The overall condition is fine. Blued barrel and cylinder now an antique gun-metal grey. The brass frame looks good with light scratches on each side. Looks as through someone at some point scribed initials on it. The action fully functions, the cylinder free wheels but holds at lock-up and appears to time ok on all 4 cylinders. Barrel markings are legible. This is a really good looking / working spur trigger Colt that fits into any 19th century collection!
