Description:
A very nice example of Browning’s 20g B S/S Sidelock. Introduced in 1983 and only available for a few years, the B S/S sidelock was made for Browning by Miroku of Japan and is based on an H&H type bar action sidelock with intercepting sears, automatic safety, and two triggers.
The action body and sideplates are in a bright, coin finish and are hand engraved in a rose and bouquet pattern.
The gun is stocked to the fences with nicely figured walnut with a straight hand grip and a 14 ¼" LOP over a checkered butt. The splinter forend has a pushrod release and is checkered with mullered borders to match the grip of the butt stock. The stock oval along the toeline remains blank.
The 26” chopper lump barrels have a smooth, concave game rib, 2 ¾" chambers, H&H type ejectors, and are fixed chokes; IC (**-) in the right barrel and and Modified (**) in the left.
Overall, the condition of the gun is excellent as it shows little to no signs of use. Bluing on the barrel is 99%, the finish on the action and trigger guard is 99% and just a few minor marks in the butt stock that are hard to see.
The gun weighs a lively 5 lbs. 15 oz. The barrels are tight on face, the triggers and ejectors well regulated.
An excellent gun for the upland hunter in North America and appropriate for everything from quail to pheasants, to grouse and woodcock.
