Description:
Spur trigger single shot iron frame derringer. 2-1/2 inch octagon barrel chambered in 41 RF caliber with a fair bore. Top of the barrel is marked "XL DERRINGER" and “Pat. Apr 5. 1870” on the left flat. Original fixed blade front sight. Very little nickel finish left on the barrel with the balance being a mottled brown/gray patina. Rosewood grips are in decent condition with no cracks or chips. Mechanically it needs a tune-up. Possibly just a trigger spring. Fairly scarce with less than 2,000 made between 1870-1879.
