Offered here for sale and just acquired among a large collection of sporting arms from an estate is this excellent and highly collectible single shot target pistol from the classic manufacturer Remington Arms Co. In our more than 5 decades in the business we have seldom seen this model for sale.
The Remington XP-100 is a unique and specialized target pistol, originally designed in the 1960s for long-range precision shooting. It's a bolt-action pistol, meaning the shooter manually operates the bolt to chamber the next. As a bolt-action pistol, the XP-100 has a reputation for reliability and precision. Shooters must manually cycle the bolt after each shot, which slows the rate of fire but enhances accuracy since the shooter can focus on each individual shot and make adjustments.
This specimen is all original and is chambered for the 7MM cartridge readily available to shooters. It’s known for being capable of reaching long distances, making it perfect for both competitive shooting and varmint hunting. With a 15.5" barrel, this XP-100 is typically configured for high-precision, long-range target shooting. The XP-100 is heavier than many standard pistols, which may make it more stable for target shooting. The weight, combined with the longer barrel, helps with recoil management, making it easier to maintain accuracy after each shot. The pistol appears to have been used very little if at all and is in 99%+ condition. Adjustable BOMAR rear target sight. It just has some dries oil and “peach fuzz” in recessed places which we will clean off before shipping. Just a couple of storage marks.
Due to its unique design and historical significance, the XP-100 is also popular among collectors of firearms.
