Description:
This is an excellent pre-WWI M1905 bayonet manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal dated 1912 housed in a RIA marked second type leather scabbard dated 1910. In near excellent condition the 20 1/2" OAL bayonet has a 16 inch very lightly sharpened blade that is armory bright with scattered carbon staining on both sides. It is marked "RIA / (flaming bomb)/ 1912" on the reverse and "US / 220112" on the obverse. The wood grips rate excellent. It comes in an excellent original Model of 1905 "RIA" marked 1910 dated second type scabbard with russet leather covered wood body having a brass drain hole on the bottom, metal throat and pivoting wire clasp hanger for use in cartridge belts showing only light use marks with supple leather. An excellent pre-WWI bayonet and scabbard set.
