Description:
Historical / Vintage British Cavalry Rifle, the Snider-Enfield MK III Breech Loading Carbine, new model for the line made in Glasgow Scotland in 1870.
Chambered in .577snider cartridge.

A single shot British rifle added to its other primary Enfield rifles for its Cavalry. This model was light and versatile, seeing service worldwide from Indonesia to Africa to Europe and newly relegated to their volunteer and militia forces beginning in 1874.

Overall good condition with the wood and metals showing some signs of wear, use and gray patina.
Its lock is marked with the British Cipher for Queen Victoria and dated 1870.
Its butt plate, in brass, has a trap for the cleaning pad.
The bore is clear with good rifling and good action.
