Inland M1 Carbine "-U- Code". Rifle comes with one magazine. This rifle has an Inland receiver that was transferred to Underwood for assembly. Ordnance required the name of the prime contractor to be defaced by a single narrow horizontal line. The identification mark of the receiving facility was to be added in the area of the serial number. In this example you can see Inland has the horizontal line through the name with Underwood's -U- code added to the receiver. Serial numbered receivers transferred were not restricted to a certain block of serial numbers. Some were sequential but many were not. Barrel is Underwood dated 5-43. This example is in great shape with many ordnance markings still visible on the stock. .30 Carbine
