Description: STK# P–36–93 Springfield 1866 –.50-70 –Stk# P-36-93 This Springfield 1866 .50-70 trapdoor has a 27-3/8” round barrel that has a blade front sight and an original ladder rear sight that is not issued to the rifle. The bore is very dark, with only faint rifling remaining and deep pitting throughout. The P grade walnut stock has some scattered usage marks and a faint inspector’s proof mark can be seen. Metal components have developed mottled brown gray patina, consisting of standard iron mounts including a barrel band. The breech block is stamped with the standard “U.S. MODEL 1866" over crossed arrows, an eagle head, and "US" markings. The lock plate bears the spread eagle and "U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1865". Wood to metal fit is fair. Length of pull is 13–1/4”, Overall 43–1/2”, weight: 7.06 lbs. Condition: Fair. Manufactured by Springfield Armory.
