For your consideration, the Springfield Armory Model 1898 bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag. The model 1898 was manufactured by Springfield Armory based on Norwegian Krag-Jorgenson rifle and became the U.S. Military rifle in the late 1800s. However, its service was short-lived after facing the Mauser 1893 in the Spanish American War. It features a rather interesting side loading gate and rotary magazine. This magazine being cumbersome to load during battle led to it being replaced by the 1903 Springfield. Manufactured in 1900. Manufactured in 1900. .30-40 Krag
