Description:
This Colt Single Action Army revolver was shipped from the factory as a one-gun shipment to J. A. Rickard Company, Schenectady, New York, June 19, 1924. It is as shipped, in .38 WCF (.38-40) caliber, blue and case, 5.5” barrel and hard rubber grips (serial #345585). It is mechanically sound with tight lock up, all four clicks, three notches functioning as they should, and an almost mint bore. The case colors have faded on the frame and hammer, but the cylinder, barrel, ejector housing, and trigger guard retain much of their factory blue. All numbers match. There is an upside-down ampersand (&) on the right rear trigger guard bow which would indicate it went back to the factory at some time but there are no assembly numbers on any parts. I suspect that means the gun was repaired but not refinished. It is possible the lanyard ring was added at that time.
The holster is of black, heavy leather, in very good condition, with a military law enforcement style, particularly noting the two “D” rings on either side. I can see no maker mark.
