It was made by J Stevens Arms Co and is the model 425 also called the High Power Rifle. These rifles were ahead of their time and have a action that looks similar to the Marlin but has an internal bolt that does not come out the back like the Marlin. The have an enclosed action so that scope or peep sight mounting is easy. There are two factory hales on the top with original filler screws installed. There are also two factory holes on the top tang for a peep sight. These rifles are smoother than the Winchester or Marlin but they only made a few thousand, less than 3000 so they are very hard to find.
