The Colt Commando was a wartime revolver produced during World War II. It was essentially a Parkerized version of the Colt Official Police revolver, designed for hard use on the battlefield. The Commando featured a six-round cylinder and was chambered in .38 Special. It had plastic grips known as \"Coltwood\" and lacked checkering on the trigger, hammer, and cylinder release latch. The U.S. Government contracted Colt to produce these revolvers for non-military guards and police protecting munitions plants and other sensitive sites during the war
