 Description:... These were the last of the smoothbore muskets manufactured by the U.S. arsenals, the primary arms of the U.S. Army in the Mexican-American War, and remained widely used during the Civil War by both sides. "HARPERS/FERRY/1846" marked tail of the lock, Federal eagle and shield motif over "US" at the center, "1846" dated barrel tang, "V/P" above eagle head proofs at the breech, two bordered script cartouches stamped on the left flat, "U.S" marked buttplate, with original smoothbore. .69 cal.

Very Good with lightly scattered mild pitting, brown and gray patina. Stock is good with numerous scattered scratches and dents, and a few very minor cracks. fairly good bore that should clean out to VG, Mechanically excellent.
