Used; High Condition; Circa 1956-57; Serial # S 1647XX; Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum; Pre-Model 27; 5-Screw Sideplate Revolver; 8-3/8 Inch Slightly Tapered Heavy Barrel which commands a modest premium; Solid Serrated Rib & Sight Tang with Serrated Top-, Front-, and Backstrap; Windage & Elevation Click-Adjustable Target Rear Sight; 1/8-Inch-Wide Pinned & Ramped Partridge Front Sight; Four-Line Address on the Frame; Large S&W Monogram on the Sideplate. Barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” on the Left Side; “S&W .357 MAGNUM” on the Right. This Revolver has a Medium Width Checkered (Low Spur) Hammer; Serrated Trigger with Barrel Pinned; Cylinder Recessed; Matching Serial Number & S on the Rear Cylinder Face. The Bore is Like-New; and the Chambers are Bright, Shiny and Like-New as well. The Blued Finish shows hardly any wear for its age (nearly 70 years) – with a visible cylinder line and stripe where the cylinder pin brushes the frame. The Front of the Cylinder has No Carbonization. The revolver has been fired very little with most of the condition from handling – including a bit of bluing wear on the muzzle. Grips are the Proper S&W Magna Style with Diamond Escutcheon-Surround and numbers that do not match this gun. Not being dealers or experts, we estimate this revolver at approximately 98 Percent Original Modern Condition. Condition is best judged from the photos, so please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be troublesome and costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations.
