There are no makers name but it does have a high end barrel by Hitchcock, Muzzy and Co. The barrel company was in business from 1840 to 1857. They did produce a few complete firearms but were know more for their barrels, both rifled and smooth bore. Their main competition back then was Remington for barrels. They were based in Worcester, Massachusetts. With the 12” barrel and the placement of the rear sight gives you a 14-1/2” sight plane. It has an interesting rear sight and the ramrod is original. If one wished to shoot it, a round ball and patch combination would have to be figured out along with the charge of black powder. The fittings appear to be German Silver.
