Description:
Finely engraved and embellished Simson & Co. Pre War German 16-Gauge Double-Barrel Shotgun with 28-5/8 Inch (fraction under 28-¾ Inch) Barrels; Muzzle/Choke of both barrels measures 0.628” (approximately); Solid Engraved Rib; Serial Number 225XX on the Barrel Lugs and Forend Inside Latch. Ther are dual extractors; no ejectors. Barrels are Krupp Fluid Steel (Fluss-Stahl) and marked NITRO. The Simson Company opened in the 1850s and manufactured shotguns and components for Merkel and other major manufacturers; African double rifles, revolvers, automobiles, knives, bayonets and military lugers until the Nazi regime confiscated the factory complex from its Jewish owners. An unusual V-notch Sight is dovetailed into the Rib; and the High Grade, Finely Checkered Pistol Grip Stock with an Engraved Steel Grip Cap bears a Raised Rifle-Style Cheekpiece, a place for a Sling Loop on its bottom edge, and an older modern red rubber butt pad. The Bottom Rib has an Original Looking (or Period) Sling Loop. The Splinter Forend Latch is also Engraved, as are all of the Screw Heads, Safety Lever, and all Receiver Surfaces. Action Screws are Timed and Set with Matching, Timed Anchor Screws at their margins. The Muzzle End of the Barrel Joint also is Engraved. Chambers appear reamed to accept 2-3/4” shells, with a smooth taper into the bore – making it impossible to tell if the barrels originally were chambered for 2-1/2” or 2-9/16” shells. We have test fired the gun with low-brass bird shot to assure its integrity and safety. The action is tight, crisp and fully functional. Barrels show no pits or corrosion under flashlight illumination. We are not dealers or experts, and will let viewers judge condition by the accompanying photos. Please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees after buyer pays return shipping. The listed price Includes Insured Ground Shipping from a CA FFL Dealer to yours. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are the Estate Executor and Trustee, not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale.
