They are flared at the muzzle, frequently throughout the entire bore, and used with shot and other projectiles. The blunderbuss is commonly considered to be an early predecessor of the modern day shotgun, with similar military and defensive use. It was effective only at short range, lacking accuracy at long range. gr The overall condition is fvery goood. The action is has been taen taknen apart and had 2 hundred years occumulated dirt and dust cleaed out an now titwos asorigpnal excellent. Original flintlock. The bore is smooth and dim. The stock shows use and remains solid throughout. There is a repair under the tail of the lock and a short, stable split forward of the rear screw head on the left stock flat.
