THIS FOX IS HEADS AND TAILS ABOVE OTHERS YOU WILL FIND, REGARDLESS OF PRICE, AND CHECKS ALL THE BOXES!  There are always a few 12ga. A Grade Fox guns available to buy, so how do you choose?  Do you want to buy just an old gun from a stranger far away that provides almost no information or photos that allow you to know what you are buying, a gun without any warranty and maybe a box of shells away from expensive repairs?  OR…should you buy a fine, thoroughly inspected A.H. Fox that competent gunsmiths have completely stripped, inspected, cleaned and lubricated, a gun that is guaranteed to be in superb mechanical condition complete with a 90-day mechanical warranty? That should be an easy question to answer.  Most available guns have had their stocks cut, been poorly restored, heavily used, have buggered up screws, bad shooting dimensions, or have characteristics that just don’t fit your needs.  Many have issues that a novice buyer won’t even recognize until the inspection period is over and now the gun needs work.  It is nearly impossible to get quality gunsmithing work on a vintage shotgun these days, so why take a chance on a random internet purchase? For upland hunting the preference is something light, quick to the shoulder, and easy to carry all day over hill and dale.  HERE WE HAVE A VERY SPECIAL FOX, SN33978 MADE IN 1930, WEIGHING IN AT 6LBS. 10OZ. WITH 28” #4 WEIGHT BARRELS CHOKED M/F, BALANCED PERFECTLY ON THE HINGE PIN, MAKING THIS AN ULTRALIGHT FOX …A TRUE RARITY IN AN AMERICAN 12GA. DOUBLE.  Many 16 and 20-gauge guns from other makers weigh as much as this 12ga Fox.  This is the perfect choice for pheasants and other upland game. Best of all it has perfect screws, excellent wood to metal fit, 30% factory case color, 100% rust blue barrels with mirror bores, 97% factory charcoal blue on the trigger guard, and well figured factory original wood (WAY NICER THAN MOST A GRADES) with an excellent hand-rubbed oil finish.  You could look for years and not find another Fox 12ga. gun that weighs 6lbs. 10oz. in this condition.  PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND 2 ½” 12GA. SHELLS.  BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” HEAVY FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUN.  This is a $440 service in our shopThe gun is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, WITH 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY, having been stripped to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned, each part scrubbed and inspected for function and integrity, lubricated, and assembled, good for another decade or so before needing attention, a $350 service.  We have put $790 in service into this gun so you don’t have to!  The gun has perfect mechanics, with barrels tight on hinge pin and breech face, top lever right of center, and excellent checkering with good shooting dimensions (see specs below).  Our gunsmiths can make alterations to fit your needs within a week or so of purchase. It might be a “month of Sundays” before you see another A Grade Fox this light and completely serviced and ready to go afield.  Fox guns have been continuously gaining value as you enjoy their use, and that makes this a very good investment gun.  Thanks for looking!
