Gray & Co. Inverness 7 x 57, 1/2" stepped barrel cordite proofed features pedestal sights 1 standing 2 folding leaves graduated 100/200/300 yards. Barrel address Gray & Co 14 Union Street Inverness. Early example of the classic British sporting magazine rifle built on an 1895 DWM Mauser action. Stocked with a superb piece of true French walnut of wonderful amber color and outstanding contrasting black ribbons of figure throughout. Horn for end tip, capped pistol grip, stock measures 14" to the steel butt plate. Barrel and stock fitted with eyes for the hook style sling hardware. Gray & Co was a mainstay of guns and gunsmithing at several locations over the years. Their last location is now a bar called Gunsmiths. The business was taken over by Graham & Co. in 1988.
