Description:
Serial #834, .22 Rim Fire (black powder), 3 inch octagon barrel with a near excellent bore with a few isolated spots of very minor roughness. This is a 6th Model Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer revolver manufactured from 1859-1863 by Allen & Wheelock. This 6th model features the roll marked cylinder scenes and is identified by the square hammer face and slow drop "S&W" style grip angle with bead front sight. In very good to fine condition the little pocket revolver retains trace amounts of original finish on the barrel and frame with the balance plum-brown having some isolated areas with slight surface roughness. The barrel markings remain excellent and all numbered parts correctly match except for the cylinder pin. The rosewood grips are solid and in excellent condition numbered to the gun. Mechanically it functions properly with correct indexing, the hammer holding at half and full cock releasing with a crisp trigger pull. A very good example of these neat little side hammer revolvers.
