PRESCOTT — Worcester, Mass., From 1860 to 1874, was an ex-employee of Ethan Allen, and a maker of a rim-fire cartridge revolvers distributed by Merwin & Bray. These arms were an infringement on the Rollin White patent that was controlled by Smith & Wesson... the production was discontinued in 1863, by a court order, but he continued making this and other models up through the 1880's. This is the Double Action, .38 rimfire, with the Scarce 1 3/4 inch barrel, and the extremely hard to find "UNION No 3 s" on the top strap marking. This model Prescott closely resembles the British Bulldog with a few differences, the heavy brass frame. (nice mellow patina), mechanically functions perfectly...
