Description:
A very rare lettered Model 21 built by Winchester custom shop in 1948 and includes Cody Museum research. Built with 30" blued barrels which are chambered for 3" shells. Barrel flats are engine turned with border engraving around outside and left barrel tops. Barrels with original early manufacture stamps as seen in the photos. Blued frame w/ engine turned water table, gold plated single selective trigger. Action is nearly full coverage engraved with dog scene in the 21-6 pattern done by George Ulrich, Master Engraver for Winchester between 1933-1949. Left side of frame panel is engraved with a setter scene and the right engraved with pointer in a banner. Trigger plate ahead of guard marked "Engr. by George Ulrich". Blued long tang trigger guard with "JLW" in gold. Highly figured American Walnut buttstock is 21-A carved. Fitted with Winchester leather faced recoil pad. Matching 21-A carved and checkered beavertail forearm with ebony inlay and blued floral engraved roller latch. Research letter states all options, repairs, and returns done for the original owner, Joseph L. Werner.
Gun remains in fantastic overall condition with nearly all factory finishes remaining per factory services in the Cody letter. Cody letter
