CALCUTTA COLT Model 1851 NAVY .36 Revolver Antique Early ’51 Navy Purchased by British Trader in India! Here we present an antique Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver, made in 1852 in Hartford, Connecticut. It was inscribed for and shipped to the Charles Nephew & Company in India, who was an active retailer in both Calcutta (the primary capital of the British in India) and Simla (the summer capital of the British) between the years of 1848 and 1871. Charles John Pittar was a talented English silversmith at Old Court House Street in Calcutta who went under the name Pittar & Co. from about 1825, until his nephew Park Pittar II joined the company in 1848. Another partner, Thomas Powell, came out of the partnership in 1853. The company still dealt in fine silver and other luxury goods to include Samuel Colt’s latest revolver offering, the Model 1851 Navy with six shots of .36 caliber. A number of Colt’s 1849 Pocket revolvers as well as at least one Dragoon are known. The Navies appear in the earlier serial ranges. The overall condition is very good. Original finish/patina. The action is excellent. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling. The grip shows use and remains solid. The numbers match. A fantastic piece of history that went around the world and back in the mid-19th Century! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
