Description:
The H-BAR came along when straightness gauges wouldn't pass through used AR barrels, and the Government assumption that the barrels were drooping due to lightweight construction. The barrels were strengthened to cure the problem. Colt found out that the gauges wouldn't pass due to build-up near the gas port, but the modification was a 'done deal" so it remained. This actually has a positive note as the 'heavy barrel" configuration contributed to better accuracy and recoil management, resulting in a very pleasant rifle for shooting as well as passing the Marine's need for a Rifleman's rifle. This Colt MATCH GRADE has all the stuff, with excellent, near sniper grade, sights and almost no recoil. The Carry Handle is fixed for a stable rear sight mount. The rifle barrel is marked "CMP5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR" .223 Remington
