1898 Dated Antique IMPERIAL RUSSIAN M1891 Mosin-Nagant Rifle w/CANVAS SLING

Imperial Russian Infantry Rifle Captured by Finland!

Here we present an antique Imperial Russia Mosin-Nagant 1891 Rifle, Captured by Finland, made in 1898 at Izhevsk. The Soviet Model 1891 known in the West as the Mosin–Nagant and in Russia as Mosin's rifle is a five-shot, bolt action, internal magazine fed military rifle developed from 1882 to 1891 and used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other nations. It is one of the most mass-produced military bolt-action rifles in history with over 37 million units having been made since its inception in 1891, and, in spite of its age, it has been used in various conflicts around the world up to the present day.
When Russia went through the Bolshevik Revolution Finland was able to gain its independence and Finland’s White Forces were able to capture many of these formerly Imperial Russian Mosin-Nagant rifles, which resulted in adoption of the rifle for the new government’s military. These rifles would go on to see decades of use, through World War 2 and even beyond. The early rifles stayed relatively similar to their original format but many saw alterations and upgrades from the state armories.

This one was stamped with the boxed “SA” and the rear sight was remarked by the Finns. The original manufacture date of 1898 remains visible in addition to the Izhevsk maker’s markings.

The overall condition is very good. The action is excellent. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling. The muzzle is counterbored. The stock shows use and remains solid throughout. Numbers match on the receiver and bolt. No import mark observed.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 31 inches.

Caliber: 7.62x54 R
