The Smith & Wesson Model 28 is an N-frame revolver in production from 1954 to 1986. It is a matte-finished bead blasted version of the S&W Model 27. Law enforcement departments and the general public requested a more affordable version of the model 27 and S&W responded with the development of the Highway Patrolman (later renamed the Model 28 in 1957 to 1960.
