Description: I am offering a Civil War period 4th model Tranter revolver. It is around a .44 caliber or British 54 bore. The revolver has a 6" barrel and is 13" overall. It operates in both single action and double action. The s/n# 9872 T appears on the right side of the frame. and is not too far off the revolver presented to CSA General JEB Stuart. That revolver was s/n# 8673 T. The checkered grips show very light use. The bore is clean and shiny with strong rifling. The action works coreectly. The barrel shows London proofmarks as well as the cylinder. The side of the loading lever and left side of the frame.are marked "TRANTER'S PATENT". The metal displays various shades of blue on the frame and barrel. There is some heavy rust on the right side of the barrel and part of the cylinder. Thr revolver doesn't show a lot of use but it was not stored well hence the rust areas. Overall this is a nice Civil War Tranter revolver for the money. Layaway an option. SOLD Antique: Yes |
