Rare Model 1851 Sharps "Box Lock" tape primer Carbine serial number 79 , made by Robbins & Lawrence. This appears to be number 79 of the first 100 standard carbines manufactured. The Stock has age drying cracks with the usual dents and wear. The Barrel length is approximately 21.5 inches with a total length of 37 inches. The receiver tang is marked "Sharps Patent 1848" 79.. All metal parts except the brass but plate are a smooth dark brown color. Most of the tape primer door was broken off and missing except for the bottom part and hinge.
