Description:
Extremely rare gun made with 30" damascus brls, 2-5/8" chambers, that have matted top rib with steel front bead with doll’s head extension. Rib legend reads "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION NY USA". Splinter forearm with scroll engraved Deeley release and two level horn teardrop tip, is extremely finely checkered in near full coverage fleur-de-lis and ribband pattern. Forearm with a panel of 32 LPI checkering near frame. Sidelock receiver is finely engraved with 2 birds in woods scene on left lock surrounded by light scroll and border engraving, 2 woodcock on right, also surrounded by scroll and border engraving. Hammers are lightly engraved. Bottom of frame lightly scroll and border engraved. Trigger guard bow with Setter and fallen bird in his mouth in game scene surrounded by scroll and has SN at center of tang. Gun made with double triggers, extractors, no safety. Finely figured capped full pistol grip buttstock is high contrast stump walnut with great grain and fiddle back. It is extremely finely checkered with 4 point checkering on sides and an extremely fine (32 lines per inch?) panel on top of grip and an arrow carved at back of lockplates.

Overall the gun is in very good to excellent all original condition. Brls retain 70% of its lightly oxidizing original damascus pattern with minor staining and handling marks. Receiver retains 25-30% original case color, though mostly toned gray, however bold and vivid in protected areas. Buttstock and forend are very good and retain 95% hand rubbed finish. Checkering is crisp with light wear. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are excellent. This is one of only four Grade 7 1889's known.

This is the single best graded 1889 I have handled. It is priced at $plus shipping direct to your door as an antique. Please dont hesitate to contact me at (704) 280-2382 or via PM on this site with any questions or reasonable offers on this very rare Remington.
