This is a 1st Series carbine with an Inland-marked, 1943 dated barrel, "INLAND" trigger housing, "IP" hammer, "RI" sear, "W-I" magazine release, "PI" slide, and "AI" flat-top bolt. The metal retains about 90-92% of the original parkerized finish with silvering along the exposed edges, at the muzzle, and on the bearing surfaces of the slide and Du-Lite finished bolt. The carbine is fitted with a later "H (in shield)" pressed metal adjustable rear sight. Under the sight are 2 very small peen marks (see photos). The two-rivet, "OI" handguard is in very good-fine shape with some handling marks and surface blemishes, while the original, "OI" high wood folding stock also has small handling marks, dings and blemishes, especially where the buttplate rests when folded. The "P (in circle)" proof is crisp on the rear flat of the stock just above the early, "fat boy" pistol grip. The leather cheek-piece is in very good shape, intact with some minor handling marks and mild verdigris around the rivets, as well as a correct, "SI" oiler. The carbine comes with a single "RUGG"-marked 15 rd. magazine, and an original C-tip canvas sling is installed that looks like it was "there"!. This is a great paratrooper carbine that is in fine-excellent condition overall.
