Serial No. 8805, circa 1862-1865, .54 caliber, 33"" round barrel. Only 770 of these unique breech loading rifles were made for the Union. This is an excellent example, bore is bright with handsome rifling noted. Barrel is in the bright with pin-prick surface oxidation visible. Case coloring is noted under the breech, traces of case coloring is also visible on lock plate. Full length wood stock shows nicks, dings and scratches. Patch box contains spare nipple and cleaning worm. Action is smooth and functions correctly. Rare Civil War martial gun!
