Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Handsome and great handling British smallbore hammergun with easy-to-operate thumbhole opener, 7-pin sidelocks, and rebounding hammers which sit below the shooter’s line of sight when cocked. This fully engraved Brewster has a finely sculpted round body and nicely figured European walnut stock and forearm. The locks are engraved “F. Brewster” in a banner on both lockplates. Auto safety, extractors, and double triggers. Brewster no. 1908 was made circa 1883 – 1885. Easy to carry for a day afield at 5lb 11oz.   ***   The 29-1/2” sleeved nitro steel barrels are chambered and proofed for 2-3/4” shotshells. The bores are shiny and the bluing is in excellent condition. They are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib which is inscribed “W, Brewster. Norfolk & F. Brewster. Bury St. Edmunds.” Bore diameters are 0.543". Choked Improved Modified and Full.   ***   The stock appears to be a recent restock in nicely figured European walnut. Checkering is crisp on stock and forearm. The forearm is secured by a Deeley latch. Stock dimensions are 15” including a leather pad by 1-3/8” by 2-1/8”. Cast off slightly for the righthanded shot.   ***   British smallbores are hard to find and when you do they usually have short barrels and shot stocks. This beautiful and great handling 28 bore has the very desirable 29-1/2” barrels chambered for 2-3/4” shotshells and a long length of pull. A great gun for a day afield or at the range. ‘He who hesitates is lost’.   ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense.
