This rifle has had the breech markings removed, and has a mixed blue-brown and pewter gray patina throughout. There are visible tool markings at the rear of the barrel, as well as deep pitting at the nipple bolster and extreme rear of the barrel. The hammer and lockplate have an overall dark gray patina throughout. The rifle has a short blade front sight, mated to the original tangent rear target sight with finger-screw lock, and functional double-set triggers. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the armory reapplied oil finish, with a small amount of grain separation at a knot on the underside of the forend. The rifle comes with a correct cylindrical head ramrod, and is a fine example of a rare Swiss muzzle-loading military rifle.
