Description:
Remington M1891 Mosin, chambered in .30-06. During World War 1 the Russians approached Remington to place an order for 1.5 million M1891 Mosin Nagants. Remington accepted this contract, but most of the rifles were not shipped out after the Russian Revolution. The US Government stepped in and bought most of the stock, while the remainder was purchased by the Bannerman company. Bannerman took some of these mosins, and in order to appeal to an American market, sporterized them like this one. In order to chamber the .30-06 cartridge, the receiver was cut down and the magazine well was enlarged. You can see this where the words 'Remington' are partially obscured as well as the manufacture date and the serial number on the receiver. Bannerman also cut down the forend and added a slight bend in the bolt handle. Overall this rifle is in decent shape with the bore being fairly shiny. The wood has retained its finish and the barrel is still blued. .30-06 Springfield
